Understanding Outpatient (OPD) Treatments

Outpatient (OPD) treatment refers to medical services provided to patients who do not require an overnight stay at a hospital or healthcare facility. These treatments typically involve consultations, diagnostic procedures, and minor medical interventions. OPD visits allow patients to receive care and return home on the same day, making it a convenient option for a variety of medical needs.
Common OPD services include:

• Doctor consultations for general health concerns or specific medical conditions
• Diagnostic tests such as blood tests, X-rays, and other screenings
• Routine health check-ups for monitoring and maintaining overall wellness
• Minor procedures like wound dressings or vaccinations

OPD treatments are ideal for managing everyday health issues, monitoring chronic conditions, and receiving preventive care, all without the need for hospitalization.
Under the Bajaj General Travel Insurance plans, if the treatment cost is under USD $500, the insured traveler will need to pay for the treatment upfront and subsequently file a reimbursement claim upon returning to India. However, if the treatment cost exceeds USD $500, the Insurance company can assist in making direct payments to the healthcare provider on the patient’s behalf, provided that the medical condition is confirmed to be non-pre-existing. This is not a standard process but can be availed, if approved by the Insurer.
The Medical Assistance Team will engage with the treating physician to review your medical condition and if it is confirmed that treatment is not due to any pre-existing condition or any condition listed in the exclusion section of the policy, the insurance company will guarantee payments to the hospital and settle the costs directly with the healthcare provider, as a special case, subject to approvals.
The policy deductible, which is payable by the insured continues to be USD $100 even for OPD treatment.
