Ghosu Bird Sanctuary

Situated 8 Kms from Zunheboto district headquarters, this bird sanctuary is solely maintained by the village community. This sanctuary is the habitat of more than twenty species of endangered birds. Migratory birds can also be sighted from the months of June of hunting and poaching in this area has now been strictly prohibited by the neighboring village community.

Zoological Park

A glimpse of the fauna of Nagaland is found in the Zoological Park at Kohima. A visitor can see some rare species of animals and birds especially the rare Blythe's Tragopan.


 

Intangki Wildlife Sanctuary

The Sanctuary lies at a distance of 37 Km from Dimapur.111 km from Kohima, Intanki Wildlife Sanctuary is the home to the Hoolock Baboon, the only gibbon found in India. The sanctuary also has a sizeable number of elephant, tiger, mithun, sambhar, wild dog and sloth bear. The Sanctuary is under the preservation of the Forest wildlife Department. This is a habitat of various animals including some rare species of birds.

Satoi Range

One of the only remaining virgin forests left in Zunherboto district, is a place of pristine beauty. This place is the natural habitat of Blythii Tragopan, a rare bird on the verge of extinction. During the months of April, May you will also find rare rhododendrons adorning the hills. An ideal place for outdoor camping and trekking.
