In West India you can find many wildlife and bird sanctuaries. India's first national park was established in 1936 as Hailey National Park, now known as Jim Corbett National Park.
Goa is a land whose major portion is allotted to forests and wildlife. Due to deforestation and extinction of certain species of animals, the wildlife sanctuaries in Goa are doing their best to preserve the species.

Bondla Wildlife sanctuary | This is located 38 km from Margao. It is a jungle more than a sanctuary. It is a big favourite place for kids and people who love nature. This wildlife sanctuary in Goa has zoos, sprawling deer park in natural habitat, botanical and rose gardens that attract visitors. |
Cotigao Wildlife Sanctuary | This is the second largest of all the wildlife sanctuaries in Goa. It covers an area of 105 sq. km. It is covered with bushy forest, it has a varied wildlife, fauna and reptiles. |
Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary | This spread over 1.78 sq. kms. It is located at the western tip of the island of Chorao along river Mandovi near Panaji. It has species and migratory birds that will always rush towards the mangrove areas. |

Chandoli National Park | This is one of the adventures park. Grasses commonly seen here include bangala or bluestem grass, dongari or golden beard grass, black spear grass, kalikusli or tangle grass, anjan grass or buffel grass, and grader grass. Insectivorous species like sundews and bladderworts are also found here. Bengal Tigers, Indian leopard's Indian bison, leopard cats, sloth bears and Indian giant squirrels can also be seen. |
Gugamal National Park | This park is located in Chikhaldara and Dharni Tehsils of Amravati District. The area is rich in wild mammals including Tiger, Panther, Sloth Bear, Wild Dog, Jackal, Hyena, Chausinga, Sambar Gaur, Barking Deer, Ratel, Flying squirrel, Cheetal, Nilgai, Wild Boar, Langur, Rhesus Monkey, and Macaque. Pench National Park | It is located on the southern boundary of Madhya Pradesh, aligned to the Maharashtra. The animals which can be seen are the gaur, sambhar's, blue bulls, macaque, langur, wild boar, bears and wild dogs and the Park is well known for its deer's and leopards. |
Gujarat is not restricted to National Parks and Sanctuaries but also it is the place for migratory bird's frequent ponds, lakes and riversides. Peacocks, jackals, saras cranes, woodland birds and many more flock gardens, parks and across places. Wild Life is a preserved in Gujarat and that is taken care by Forest Department.

Gir Forest National Park | This has an total area of 1412 km. The carnivores group mainly comprises Asiatic lions, Indian Leopards, Sloth bears, Indian Cobras, Jungle cats, Striped Hyenas, Golden Jackals, Indian Mongoose, Indian Palm Civets, and Ratels. The herbivores of Gir are Chital, Nilgai, Sambar, Four-horned Antelope, Chinkara and Wild boar. The reptiles are represented by the mugger Marsh crocodile, Indian Star Tortoise and the Monitor Lizard in the water areas of the sanctuary. Snakes are also found in this place. |
Velavadar National Park | This park is situated in Bhavnagar district spread over 34 sq.kms. The nearest airport Bhavanagar is at a distance of 72km. Here you can see black buck and wolf. |
Vansda National Park | Located in the district of Bulser. Daghi,is the nearest town from the park. The nearest airport is Baroda, 249km away. Here you can find leopard and peafowl. |
Marine National Park | This park covers an area of 163 sq. kms. in the Gulf of Kutch in Jamnagar district. The fauna of the park comprises dugong, green sea turtle, ridley, leather back and olive. |
