National Holidays in Qatar

The national holidays in Qatar are according to the Islamic calendar, the important ones are the ascension of the prophet , the birthday of the prophet ,the start of Ramadan and the two ‘festival’ ( eid) holidays, Eid Al-Fitr and Eid Al-Adha. Another holiday called Ashura, which commemorates the death in battle of the Prophet’s grandson, Imam Husain. The Islamic holidays are determined according to the lunar sightings so its hard to convert that into Gregorian calendar.
