What are the different travel insurance plans offered by TATA AIG

TATA AIG offers its travel insurance under the brand TATA AIG Travelguard. The following are the different travel insurance plan options available under TATA AIG Travelguard insurance :

Single trip TATA AIG Travelguard insurance:
This is the most popular travel insurance policy offered by TATA AIG. This is applicable for travelers who are traveling for a fixed duration of time. This single trip travel insurance is available from a minimum of 2 days to an initial maximum of 6 months. You can renew the plan for another 6 months by providing a good health declaration, having no claims during the initial period and getting approval from the TATA AIG underwriting team. Any Individual traveler or family members traveling overseas can buy this single trip travel insurance. Travelers in the age group ranging from 6 months up to 70 years can get a coverage of either the TATA AIG silver plan ($50,000), TATA AIG silver plus plan ($100,000), TATA AIG gold plan ($250,000) or the TATA AIG platinum plan ($500,000). Older Travelers in the age group of more than 70 years can get a maximum coverage of $50,000.

TATA AIG Annual Multi-trip travel insurance:
TATA AIG multi trip travel insurance is suitable for business people, working professionals or international travelers who travel overseas regularly. Here, you are purchasing international travel insurance coverage for a whole year, however each international trip is limited to either 30 or 45 days. TATA AIG multi trip plan is available in two variants. Silver plan ($50,000) and Gold plan ($250,000) with a 30 or 45 day slab days. Any traveler between the ages of 19 to 70 years can purchase this policy.

Asia guard travel insurance:
TATA AIG Asia guard travel insurance is a plan specially designed for travelers traveling within Asian countries (excluding Korea and Japan) for a shorter duration of 14 days. It covers the traveler for medical expenses during their stay in Asian countries. TATA AIG Asia guard is available in two variants Silver plan ($50,000) and Gold plan ($200,000). Any traveler aged between 6 months to 70 years can buy this plan. However travelers above 70 and travelers going for longer duration can buy the regular single trip travel insurance mentioned above.

The TATA AIG Travel insurance is also offered in two variants depending on the coverage with or without sub-limits.

TATA AIG with Sub limits travel insurance:

  • TATA AIG travel guard with sublimit plans have specific benefit limits for different covered medical expenses.
  • These are plans are cheaper when compared to plans without any sub-limits.
  • The distinction with or without sub-limits comes into effect only after the age of 56 years. For travelers less than 56 years all plans have no sub-limits.
  • Travelers between 56 and 70 years have an option of buying the plan with sub-limits with $50,000, $100,000, $250,000 and $500,000 maximum coverage.
  • 70 plus travelers can only buy a plan of $50,000 with sub-limits.

Here is a simple example showing how much the insurance policy pays for this claim:
Subtract the deductible from claims amount - $24,500 minus $100 equals $24,400. Insured bears $100.
The insurance provider pays fixed amounts based on the schedule of benefits (as shown in the table) and you have to pay the remaining balance.

TATA AIG without Sub limits travel insurance:

  • TATA AIG travel guard without sublimit plans are comprehensive plans where in the eligible medical benefits are covered up to medical maximum.
  • These plans are more expensive but their coverage is more exhaustive.
  • Travelers 56 to 70 years have an option of buying the plan without sub-limits with $50,000, $100,000, $250,000 and $500,000 maximum coverage.
  • 70 plus travelers can buy a plan of $50,000 without sub-limits
