Should I carry this in currency or travelers cheques?

It would be safer to travel with traveler’s cheques, since they can be replaced if lost or stolen. But upon arrival in the USA, do purchase dollars in currency and change as this will help you make a call home, get a bite to eat, pay for your fare from the airport to your apartment and other little emergencies.
