How do I use the insurance if I fall sick during my overseas trip?

The Medical Cover component of your Religare travel insurance:
Covers your treatment and hospitalization if needed for an illness that happens during your travel. In the event that you need further treatment even after your return to India, the medical expenses for this ailment will be covered up to a period of 30 days or the policy end date whichever is earlier. There is an additional benefit in that the policy medical Sum Insured is doubled in the event of an accident (as opposed to sickness).
How does this policy cater to medical evacuation should the need arise during my travel abroad?

The Medical Evacuation component of the policy will
covers the costs incurred for any emergency evacuation and transportation that is needed to transfer the insured to an appropriate medical facility within our coverage network.
Does the policy provide any coverage should the vehicle that the insured is traveling in has an accident?

The Personal Accident clause
covers any adverse circumstance arising due to an accident, be it death or permanent total disability, while the insured is overseas.
Does the insurance cover the insured if the aircraft that he/she is flying in is involved in an mishap?

The Common Carrier Accidental Death clause provides
a lumpsum payment of the Sum Insured in the event of accidental death of the insured while traveling on a common carrier/transport.
What dental coverage does the policy provide?

Dental Expenses:
incurred in connection with any injury while on your trip are covered by the policy.

Does the policy cover trip cancellation?

Financial loss incurred due to Trip Cancellation & Interruption are
covered if the cancellation of the trip is caused by an unforeseen event arising due to specified manmade or natural conditions.
Will a flight delay be covered?

Trip Delay
expenses are covered if the delay in your departure is beyond 12 consecutive hours and is due to a list of clearly specified reasons/issues.
Would any delay in Checked-in Baggage or loss of baggage be covered?

Loss of Checked-in Baggage:
Covers expenses for your checked-in baggage lost while in custody of the Common Carrier (airlines).
Delay of Checked-in Baggage:
Covers expenses in case of a delay in receipt of the checked-in baggage beyond 12 consecutive hours.


Is there any coverage for losing the passport?

Loss of Passport:
Covers expenses for the issue of a new or duplicate passport.
Does this insurance provide any liability cover?

Personal Liability:
Covers expenses against legal liability for bodily injury or property damage that occurred accidentally to third parties during your trip.

Does the policy provide for expenses incurred while looking after the insured in hospital?

Daily Allowance in case of Hospitalization clauses ensures
payment of a specified amount per day of stay at the hospital to meet numerous allied expenses such as attendant’s meals, transportation and communication incurred but not covered under your Policy.
Does the policy pay for the compassionate visit by family member if insured is hospitalized?

Two-way Compassionate Visit:
Covers transportation expenses for one immediate family member to travel to the insured’s current location.


Does the policy cover up-gradation of travel due to injury ?

Up-gradation To Business Class:
Compensates for up-gradation to business class for return air travel, in case of hospitalization for over five consecutive days, due to injury sustained during the insureds travel.
Can a dependent return to India if the adult is unable to travel, will the policy cover this situation?

Return of Minor Child:
Covers the return cost of a minor child to your home location, in case the insured adult is hospitalized and is travelling alone with your child/children.

What options are available for business travelers who travel overseas often?

Religare offers two options to choose from –
  • Multi Trip with maximum 45 days per trip
  • Multi Trip with maximum 60 days per trip

Choose your policy duration as per your needs In case of single trip, you can opt for a policy period up to a maximum of 365 days or maximum trip duration as specified under each plan.
Can the insured provide a reimbursement if the overseas travel is cut short?

Yes, we do provide a reimbursement in that situation .
  • The policy can be cancelled and premium will be refunded if the difference between the date of arrival of insured and end date of policy is 15 days or more. (a cancellation charge of Rs300 would be deducted)
  • No cancellation will be allowed if a Claim is filed on the policy.

Does the policy have a free look period?

Only in the case of a 1 year policy, there is a 15 day free look period. If you change your period during this period, you can cancel the policy.
