NRIOL was the subject of an interesting paper titled, 'Creating Immigrant Identities in Cybernetic Space'.
The paper discusses a cybernetic space like NRIOL offering an opportunity for a cyber-community where the in-group discourse provides the glue that holds the members together in the virtual space even though their geographic locations might be distant from each other.
The paper was authored by Ananda Mitra, Department of Communication, Wake Forest University, USA and presented at the "Media Performance and Practice Across Cultures" conference held in March, 2002, at the University of Wisconsin, Madison.
