Wild-life sanctury
The Sasangir wildlife sanctuary located in the Saurashtra region in Gujarat, India covers about 1412 square kilometers of land area. This wildlife park is one of the most well-known lion sanctuaries in Asia.
The Sasan Gir Lion Sanctuary is perhaps the last home to about 300 Asiatic lions. This wildlife sanctuary came into existence in the year 1913 with the objective of protecting the Asiatic lions. This wildlife park earned the sanctuary status in the year 1965.
The vegetation at the Sasangir wildlife sanctuary consists mainly of deciduous trees, teak and Sal forests. This wildlife park is liberally covered with thorn forests and dhak trees. The terrain at the Sasangir wildlife sanctuary is rugged and has steep rocky hillsides. |
