Bio-data of Vilas Shinde

Born in Maharashtra in 1953. Vilas studied at Sir J.J. School of Art, Mumbai from 1978 and in 1980 at the M.S. University, Baroda for his Post Diploma. From 1982-83 he studied painting at the Ecole National Superior des Beaux-Arts, in Paris and print-making under Prof. S.W. Hayter, also at Paris. He has held 6 solo shows, 8 joint exhibitions with Jin Sook and has participated in several group activities including "20 Artists", Paris, in 1983, the International Print Making Exhibition, Taiwan in 1984, Contemporary Indian Print-Making, at Finland, Yugo- slavia, Portugal, and Germany in 1986, the Indian Festival in U.S.A. also in 1986, the International Print-Making Biennale, Bhopal in 1988, the Triennale d'Estampes Petit format, de Chamalieres, France in 1991, the 17th Inter- national Print Exhibition at Kangawa, Japan in 1992, "Art for Cry" Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai in 1996 and the Wilberding Collection at the NGMA, Mumbai in 1998.

Vilas Shinde lives and works in Mumbai.
