Bio-data of Amitabh Sengupta Born in Calcutta in 1941. He graduated from the Govt. College of Arts and Craft, Calcutta in 1963. Thereafter he studied art appreciation, textiles, traditional crafts and Haveli Doors, and by 1966 had his first solo show and participated in the National Exhibition. From 1966-69 he studied at Ecole des Beaux-Arts, Paris on a French Govt. Scholarship, even exhibiting at the Salon d' Automne, Paris in 1967. From 1979-81 he received AICE – UNESCO fellowship to complete Ed.M at the University of New York, Buffalo. He was appointed Head of Fine Arts at UNIPORT and Art Consultant to Federal Universities in Nigeria and UNESCO. He has held innumerable one man shows, participated in many major group shows like the Bharat Bhavan Biennale, Bhopal in 1990. The Indo-French Confluence show, Calcutta in 1992. He now lives and works in Calcutta. |
