YOU say that our government is inefficient.
YOU say that our laws are too old.
YOU say that the municipality does not pick up the garbage.
YOU say that the phones don’t work, the railways are a joke, the airline is the worst in the world, mails never reach their destination.
YOU say that our country has been fed to the dogs and is the absolute pits.
YOU say, say and say. What do YOU do about it? Take a person on his way to Singapore. Give him a name - YOURS. Give him a face - YOURS. YOU walk out of the airport and you are at your International best. In Singapore you don’t throw cigarette butts on the roads or eat in the stores. YOU are as proud of their Underground Links as they are. You pay $5 (approx. Rs.60) to drive through Orchard Road (equivalent of Mahim Causeway or Pedder Road) between 5 PM and 8 PM. YOU comeback to the parking lot to punch your parking ticket if you have over stayed in a restaurant or a shopping mall irrespective of your status identity. In Singapore you don’t say anything, DO YOU? YOU wouldn’t dare to eat in public during Ramadan, in Dubai. YOU would not dare to go out without your head covered in Jeddah. YOU would not dare to buy an employee of the telephone exchange in London at 10 pounds (Rs.650) a month to, "see to it that my STD and ISD calls are billed to someone else." YOU would not dare to speed beyond 55 mph (88 kmph) in Washington and then tell the traffic cop, "Jaanta hai sala main kaun hoon (Do you know who I am?). I am so and so’s son. Take your two bucks and get lost." YOU wouldn’t chuck an empty coconut shell anywhere other than the garbage pail on the beaches in Australia and New Zealand. Why don’t YOU spit Paan on the streets of Tokyo? Why don’t YOU use examination jockeys or buy fake certificates in Boston? We are still talking of the same YOU. YOU who can respect and conform to a foreign system in other countries but cannot in your own. You who will throw papers and cigarettes on the road the moment you touch Indian ground. If you can be an involved and appreciative citizen in an alien country why cannot you be the same here in India. Once in an interview, the famous Ex-municipal commissioner of Bombay Mr.Tinaikar had a point to make. "Rich people’s dogs are walked on the streets to leave their affluent droppings all over the place," he said. "And then the same people turn around to criticize and blame the authorities for inefficiency and dirty pavements. What do they expect the officers to do? Go down with a broom everytime their dog feels the pressure in his bowels? In America every dog owner has to clean up after his pet has done the job. Same in Japan. Will the Indian citizen do that here?" He’s right. We go to the polls to choose a government and after that forfeit all responsibility. We sit back wanting to be pampered and expect the government to do everything for us whilst our contribution is totally negative. We expect the government to clean up but we are not going to stop chucking garbage all over the place nor are we going to stop to pick a up a stray piece of paper and throw it in the bin.We expect the railways to provide clean bathrooms but we are not going to learn the proper use of bathrooms. We want Indian Airlines and Air India to provide the best of food and toiletries but we are not going to stop pilfering at the least opportunity. This applies even to the staff who is known not to pass on the service to the public. When it comes to burning social issues like those related to women, dowry, girl child and others, we make loud drawing room protestations and continue to do the reverse at home. Our excuse? "It’s the whole system which has to change, how will it matter if I alone forego my sons’ rights to a dowry." So who’s going to change the system? What does a system consist of? Very conveniently for us it consists of our neighbors, other households, other cities, other communities and the government. But definitely not me and YOU. When it comes to us actually making a positive contribution to the system we lock ourselves along with our families into a safe cocoon and look into the distance at countries far away and wait for a Mr. Clean to come along & work miracles for us with a majestic sweep of his hand. Or we leave the country and run away. Like lazy cowards hounded by our fears we run to America to bask in their glory and praise their system. When New York becomes insecure we run to England. When England experiences unemployment, we take the next flight out to the Gulf. When the Gulf is war struck, we demand to be rescued and brought home by the Indian government. Everybody is out to abuse and rape the country. Nobody thinks of feeding the system. Our conscience is mortgaged to money. Dear Indians, The article is highly thought inductive, calls for a great deal of introspection and pricks one’s conscience too....I am echoing J.F.Kennedy’s words to his fellow Americans to relate to Indians.....
"ASK WHAT WE CAN DO FOR INDIA AND DO WHAT HAS TO BE DONE TO MAKE INDIA WHAT AMERICA AND OTHER WESTERN COUNTRIES ARE TODAY" Thank you.

Dear Hameed,
I agree with every word you say. I do not however agree with what the govt is doing about it. When you talk of our sanitation and health standards, what do you have to say for the lack of public toilets? When you talk of littering and spitting, what do you have to say for the lack of proper waste disposal and recycle facilities by the municipal corporation? When you talk of fines imposed on public, what do you have to say about the corrupt police official who will himself spit on the pavement but if he catches a rickshaw wallah doing the same penalise him a heafty fine which will go into his own pocket? The locality I reside in B'lore has sought to bring about awareness about cleanliness in the vicinity. They made one big blunder. They placed placards everywhere asking people to keep it clean. What did the municipal corporation do? It went about on a crusade uprooting all these placards saying it was against the rules to place unauthorised messages on government property. Such is the mentality of the govt orgaisations. They are not willing to ask for people's help. The govts. in the countries you have cited, ask for people's help to keep it clean. When you ask for help only then you get it. If people are made to feel involved in the govt affairs, we will feel like a community. As there is a saying - Yatha Rajah Tatha Praja, it certainly holds good for our country. As for Kennedy's words, I think every Indian has done so much for the country coming up by themselves. The country has not helped us in anyway. Yet I am a proud as an Indian and I have hope in its people. But will I someday be proud of what my country did for me or atleast to my fellow Indians - I hope to see that day. Madhavi.

I don't think there is anything wrong in performing Namaz on the roads infact I think the problem is a little deeper than just expressing the frustration associated with it. Most mosques were in place for many years and prayers said in the open much before the roads became busier and busier. The newer mosques do have a big open area for prayers. Speaking about loud speakers, mind you many countries that have strong Islamic roots do have loud speakers, be it, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, even Turkey - the modern Islamic state. Don't tell me about US or UK or elsewhere. Their sense of religion is almost non-existant. India is an extremely religious country and many aspects of religion are typical to our country. Think for once about the Ganesh festival processions in Bombay when the entire city comes to a stand still (mind you you wouldn;t want to have an accident or need a doctor's assistance at this time) or the ill-efects of Holi festival where you may not want to be coloured and no one cares, and the loud speakers blaring Suprabhatam (early morning prayers to the God) every morning? Indian govt has provided the Haj subsidy as we are a welfare state and practice secularism. Subsidies are offered to many minority groups. In Islamic countries like Saudi and Pakistan, there is no question of benefits offered to minority religions as there are none. It can't be comparable to Saudi for certain as Mecca is in Saudi and being a staunch Islamic state, it is an incumbent upon all citizens to make the Haj trip. Looking at only the Islamic aspect of India to make it an inhabitable, unreturnable, or un-international is being a little biased. We need to look at the state of roads, corruption, lack of education, the pollution, lack of foresight into future as the key issues and tackle them.

Lets tell G-8 that we have infested india with 1000 of missiles with nuke warheads, If you read 2020 vision by jasjit singh (classified) they are indicating that india would face the kosovo like intervention by NATO in the future, and there wont be no India Pak peace to talk about. India is in a quagmire, lets implement tough laws a la singapore on indians, lets have descipline. USA is happy to oversee pakistan breaking/desrupting india, coupled with 140 million indian muslims who beleive pakistan to be their massiah/insurance policy. With so many millions of muslims, its not possible for indians to live in a peace, perticularly when you have pakistan aiding them and abbeting them ( bombay bomb blast ). India has no gold/oil deposits to write home about, India is in a precarious position internationally, and US/UK would further exploit it

Man you are one twisted up anti muslim. Your perception of Hindu India is a communist fascist vision and if you are a Hindu, you will know the basic principle is to have Sarva Dharma Sadbhav: tolerance towards all religions. All the personalities whom you want banned, condemn the atrocities done by the same Hindus you consider righteous. They voice out against what is wrong, not against Hindus. They have the courage to call a spade a spade. India condemns Pakistan’s hand in terrorism and all those who participate in terrorist activities perpetrated by Pakistan. It still does not justify harming fellow Muslims who spend their lives leading a normal life, earning an honest rupee. Mind you they are not the terrorists. It is immature and narrow-minded to hold each Muslim responsible for terrorism. Besides, the Hindus have done no less through inhuman, barbaric atrocities towards Muslims. I don’t see your point if you want India to prosper by closing down Universities and Newspaper chains (and if it helps discontinuing to provide Haj subsidies), when the very fact is that members of these democratic organizations with an objective view point have brought fame to India. Soon we'll have priests and sadhus sitting as diplomats, instead of intelligent students from prestigious universities. And we will live like a frog in the well with newspapers bringing in news only from within India, like N. Korea Singapore city has laws in place but it also brings discipline by creating a harmonious mutually respectful society. Discipline can be achieved by mutual cooperation. You are mistaking discipline with control. At one breath you want India to be one like China and on the other you consider, Congress/Communist/Muslims as the biggest enemies!!! If you are asking every Indian to wake up, you have woken up in an Independent India because of leaders like Gandhi whom you call a traitor. After 300 years of struggle, we got independence with no weapons. We can achieve a lot through peace and Gandhi has inspired many big leaders like Aung San and Nelson Mandela. It doesn’t matter if he didn’t inspire you. That is why one of our own Hindus assassinated him - and you look for a utopian Hindu state!!!

Iqbal is not unique in such opinion about loyalty of Muslims to a nation state. I can go on to quote hundreds of Muslim scholars who have expressed such sentiments. Dr. Ali Muhammad Naqavi also observed "nationalism is incompatible with Islam, both schools having two opposite ideologies" and "the idea of nationalist Muslim is as absurd as that of a 'religious communist' or 'capitalist Marxist." Even sardar vallabhbhai patel questioned the loyalty of indian muslims, so you mean to say that our great courageous leader sardar patel was wrong? It is not he who lacked the expereince and the vision, its you. Was it not muslims who wanted the separated land away from hindu kafars, or was it hindus who threw them off? The Muslims of India endorsed Jinnah overwhelmingly (86.6%) in the elections in 1946 - that led to the creation of Pakistan. Was there any equal muslim personality on the lines of bhagat singh, shivaji, jhansi ki rani, ???? It is laughable for you to invoke Gandhi's name today. And it is fully understandable for a Hindu not to do so. Hindus have paid too heavy a price for their blind faith in Gandhi. Anyway, there is not much of Gandhi that is followed in India, or for that matter anywhere in the world other than paying lip service to the concept of nonviolence. The world has yet to see a nation disband its army and fight an invader or even social unrest within on Gandhian nonviolence. India, too, is highly unlikely to confront Islamic terrorism or an invasion by Pakistan by Satyagrah or by Dandi type march as Gandhi did against the British and might have recommended had he been alive

He was mentioning all the extremist movements, while the rest of India has become so used to pointing a finger, that they don't take responsibility and don't have a voice.So he's telling Indians to take responsibility to bring about peace and order. that's what he's saying, so wake up

What does diverging into religious matters have anything to do with Indian hopes and frustrations?Any bitterness towards a particular religion has no relevance in the matter discussed. I agree with Abdul to think of ways to contribute towards India and give up the dual standards. And I still maintain we need both the govt and the citizens to work hand in hand. As for this new thread voicing out anti-religious feelings, it is in no way connected with the original discussion topic.

If the word of god (kuran) gives a command to a muslims to decimate kafars, why can not rest of us choose to destroy this blind faith, which propagates such hateful doctrine of killing non muslims??
Islam as it is taught in the Quran (Koran) and lived by Muhammad, as is reported in the Hadith (Biography and sayings of the Prophet) is a religion of intolerance, inequality, violence, discrimination, superstition, fanaticism, and blind faith. Islam advocates killing the non-Muslims, abuses the human rights of minorities and women. Islam expanded by Jihad (holy war) and forced its way by killing the non-believers and the dissidents. Apostasy in Islam is the biggest crime, punishable by death. Muhammad was a fundamentalist himself therefore fundamentalism cannot be separated from true Islam. Islam, which means submission, demands from its followers to submit their wills and thoughts to Muhammad and his imaginary Allah, a deity that despises reason, democracy, freedom of thought and freedom of expression.

The same abdul would tell you that khuda parasti comes first, watan parsti comes later under islam. Indian muslims are muslims first, indian later, as demanded by islam, which supersedes everything, islam means submission to allah.

This traitor did more harm to hindus than good.
Nathuram vinayak godse was intelligent man who saved hindus, he is supposed to be our hero on the lines of bhagat singh n others. Perhaps thats why he used 5 bullets instead of one, to make sure this traitor is silenced for ever, with no room for error. Gandhi n nehru combo was too deadly for indians, who became pseudo seculars, and started hating the majority, the hindus. What a shame.

My name is keshto patel, and I am forced to write to you this letter in the aftermath of ansal plaza killing which highlites the fact that you have a hidden hand to destablise india with the connivance of our arch enemy., Pakistan.
Looking at the following facts it is clearly understood that you are the clear cut culprit here:
You and prafful bidwai went against our/your law enforcement agencies, and relied on the testimoney of a felon with past record indicating such misdemeanors. You were responsible for many lost man hours of our government machinery as well as law enforcement athorities combined. You seem to suggest that terrorism be handled with silk gloves, and that terrorists not be shot at, till they finish off their task first, namely to kill others. You must be aware that the High court rejected a plea for probe in to ansal plaza encounter, which must have a merit of its own. Due to your indulgence in this unwarranted act of terrorism by terrorists, Police had to prove unnecesarly that they did not stage manage the whole encounter. More, due to your intervention, the felon now got the police protection/escort, thus wasting indian resources on such disgraceful acts of criminals by our government. Not to remind you further that the felon was not even present in the premises when the encounter with the Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) took place. Verification of the parking tickets issued by the parking contractor of the basement parking has found that doctor's Toyota was not parked on Sunday evening. Doctors movements on that evening were checked, which suggested that he never visited Ansal Plaza on Sunday evening, let alone his false doctorate degrees from london n elswhere which prove he is a quack/charlatan, who while claiming to be a cancer specialist was engaged in looting the unwary, and desperate, victims of the deadly disease. Sir, You belong to journalistic feild, which confers the responsblity on to you to report the cases not as you deem them fit, but present them truthfully with prudence. And this is where you have failed on the above case which has national security ramifications. We also know that you are the selected rajya sabha member, and not elected one. But it does not mean that, we the indians would overlook your misdeeds as always and turn a blind eye on you. You are always watched by us, no matter how many candles you burn on wagah border, and appease pakistanis day in day out to get their highest award Nishan e Pakistan, which I am sure, you would accept with both the hands. We indians have bestowed the high seat of honour to you in the form of rajya sabha, dont ever betray our goodness passed on to you, In other words, DONT BE A TRAITOR. Keshto patel.

I dont know much about Savarkar. But Bose would never have let the commies set foot in Bengal. Even China could have been saved from communism. Its a misfortune that our own sisters like Madhavi choose to sleep with the enemy. It is traitors like these who are a bigger danger to India that the Islamic/Pakistani forces.

Rohit bhai, like madhavi, there are many other indians who dont have enough knowledge of this sinster religion called islam, which would bring the downfall of mankind sooner than later, they are judging the book by its cover, and not reading it.
People just look at the history, without getting into details of the past masscare of hindus by these marauders. So are our past leaders to bag the blame too.
Example: Nehru is on the record saying babur was a intelligent *soldeir*, beside calling subhash chandra bose a criminal. Now common man, this is a biggest example that he set for indians of future generations to equate a marauders to be a soldeirs, like hitler(the sage) be known as one, shame on such leaders, no wonder he died of syphilis after playing a playboy role with edwina.
