Houston is the fourth largest city of United States of America, and the largest city in the Texas. In 1836 Houston city was founded near the banks of Buffalo Bayou. Battle of San Jacinto was won by the President of the Republic of state Texas called as General Sam Houston, then later the city was renamed as Houston in the year 1837.Houston economies are based on energy, manufacturing, aeronautics, health care sectors, oilfield equipment and transportation industries.

The city comprises of many cultures and various religions, which is rapidly growing as an international community. Houston has many cultural institutions and hosts many exhibitions, which will attract more than 8 million tourists very year. This city is also called as "Museum District".

History of Houston

In 1860 for the purpose of importing and exporting of cotton in Houston, the railway department came up with the railroad hub that supports from state Texas to Galveston and Beaumont.Houston has four major wetlands passing through the city namely Buffalo Bayou, White Oak Bayou, Braes Bayou and Sims Bayou.

The Houston theatres are located in downtown of the city. It is the home for nine major performing arts organizations and you can find six performance halls. Bayou Place is a big multilevel landscape, which has many restaurants, bars, live music, billiards and Sundance Cinema.

  • Bayou place: Bayou Place is full of bars, lounges, theaters and restaurants. You can also find the largest rock and roll nightclub called Rocbar.
  • Johnson space center: This is located in Southeast Houston and occupies an area of 1,620 acres of land with more than 100 facilities and the center serves as home of the NASA astronaut corps.
  • Water park: This water park has many amusement parks and thrilling water games, which features several slides, a huge wave pool and a river.

Cycling: Houston has the largest number of bike travellers in Texas with over 160 miles of dedicated bikeways. The city is currently improving the street bikeway network.
