Business Today ranking of B-schools: Extremely surprising...

From : Suresh Kumar Raju

Dear Mr. Editor,

Business Today gave the whole of india a "sour" surprise by releasing what they refer to as a ranking of B-schools in India.

Just think about UBS getting 0 for perception, BIM gets 69 for 300 in perception. 38 of this is given by the alumini alone.

The corporate recruiters have been given a chance to vote for the schools. Now all the corporates have been given equal weightage. This is mockery. Imagine HLL and McKinsey recruiting only from IIMs getting the same class as a XYZ company.

Out of the 100 colleges listed 30 were only visited. So how did they score for infrastructure and other facilities available at the college.

Some of the colleges listed in top 20 have no LCD projector and a few share their resources with the UG programmes they conduct. Some operate along with the UG programme sharing resources like that of classrooms, library, computers, etc.

How will business today account for these faults? How will they repair for the damage done to the reputation of a few schools? What will the reaction from the B-schools?

With pity for business india...

Regards,
Suresh Kumar Raju
