Dear Arjun and readers,
One of the most difficult things to do is to recognize your own country's shortcomings and failures. Especially for a rabid Indian cricket fan.
However, if it was just a question of ability, it would have been an easier pill to swallow. Unfortunately, that's not the case. Countries like Australia and South Africa rule world cricket today more because of their hard work, dedication and attitude than talent alone. Their infrastructure at the grass roots level is solid with a good system of grade cricket and first class cricket which produces some of the best test players in the world. Professional sports today is not just about talent, but about hours at nets, tough mental attitude, careful watching of film to exploit others' weaknesses and to correct one's own. You can't win by behaving like a bunch of prima donnas thinking that you're God's gift to the Indian masses.I thoroughly enjoyed your articles and review of the series, even if the performance of the team was so disappointing.
