NRI scientist to 'de-age' George Washington

A NRI scientist Anshuman Razdan, has been given the unique job of creating life-size images of the first US President George Washington in his younger days. This is pioneering work since there are no images on record of a young George Washington. Washington, who was born in 1732, became the US`s first president in 1789 at the age of 57.

Anshuman Razdan, the current director of the Arizona State University`s Partnership for Research in Spatial Modelling (PRISM), will create 3-D images by using forensics, computer and laser technology. Razdan is working with anthropologist Jeffrey Schwartz, who was commissioned by Mount Vernon Estate and Gardens to create three lifelike, life-size figures of George Washington.

The figures will depict Washington at 19 as a surveyor, at 45 as a general and at 57 taking the oath of office as the nation's first president. The figures will appear in an exhibition hall to be built as part of an $85 million expansion project at the president's home.

Anshuman was born in the small town of Karnal, about 100 miles north of Delhi. He received his elementary, secondary and undergraduate education in India, then in 1986 came to Arizona State University to begin graduate studies. He currently lives in Arizona with his wife and four children.
