Keeping the promise made in the NRI Sammelan held in January, the ruling Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) launched Six Non-Resident Indian (NRI) Police stations in Punjab. Though all kinds of cases involving NRIs would be taken up at these police stations, these police stations are primarily meant to ensure speedy justice to expatriates at grassroots levels.
Earlier, Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal during NRI Sammelan announced that special police stations would be opened in the state to specially deal with the complaints of NRIs.
