Memorial for Air India victims in Toronto

Canadian Prime Minister Stephen unveiled the memorial for the 329 victims of the Air Indian bombing in June 1985. Two-thirds of the victims came from Toronto. The Prime Minister was joined by Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty and Mayor David Miller in paying tributes to the victims..

The ill-fated flight 182 from Toronto to Delhi was brought down with a bomb loaded on a plane in Vancouver and transferred on to the Kanishka in Toronto. All 329 passengers and crew parished in the icy waters of the Irish Coast. Two British Columbia Sikhs, Ajaib Singh Bagri and Ripduman Singh Malik, were tried and acquitted in the case in 2005.
