Indian students may be discovering new foreign campus destinations. However, US still remains all time favorite with 24,622 student visas issued to Indian students during financial year 2006, as compared with 18,653 last year. In other non-immigrant categories, there has been an increase in visas issued. For temporary workers and dependents [H1 and H4], the US Embassy in New Delhi issued 76,506 visas in 2006. The over 30% increase in student visas for the US can be attributed to a growing interest in undergraduate courses among Indian students in Delhi and other metros.
