Four NRIs/PIOs are listed in the top 40 Rich List in the latest Forbes list of Richest people in Singapore. The four have collective net worth of $1.54 billion, which is more than 5% of the accumulated net worth of $28 billion of Singapore's 40 richest people.
Murli Kewalram Chanrai, ranked 7th, is at the top among the Indians in the list. He heads the $3 billion Kewalram Chanrai Group; Sudhir Gupta, ranked 13th, heads Amtel-Vredestein Tire Company; Kartar Singh Thakral, ranked 25th, has many businesses, including the Singapore-listed Thakral Corp; and Mustaq Ahmad, ranked 27th is the owner of Mustafa Centre in Little India.
