Indian-American community activist, Aneesh Chopra, has been appointed as the Secretary of Technology of US state of Virginia by its Governor-elect. In an announcement, Governor-Elect Tim Jaine said, I am proud to appoint Aneesh Chopra as Secretary of Technology. The opportunity to make an appointment with the historic distinction this one holds is truly an honor."
Chopra is currently a managing director of the advisory board that provides research and analysis in business strategy and general management to the healthcare industry. He will have the distinction of being the first Indian-American to serve in a cabinet-level post in the Commonwealth of Virginia as also the only Indian-American to hold a state-level position.
A graduate of Johns Hopkins University and Harvard University where he had a Master's Degree in Public Policy, Chopra also had the distinction of being on Virginia's Board of Medical Regents.
