Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani has assured non-resident Indians that the bill granting dual citizenship would become a law before the end of the year.
According to a PTI report, the Deputy Prime Minister made this announcement while addressing the Indian community in Chicago during his recent visit to the US. Mr Advani said that the bill was recently introduced and it had gone to the standing committee of Parliament which is expected to give its comment in two or three months.
After that, he said, he is sure both houses of Parliament would adopt the measure.
His announcement was greeted with thunderous applause from more than one thousand Indian Americans attending the dinner meeting.
