Chennai-born US-based Indra K. Nooyi, president and chief financial officer of PepsiCo, has moved up six notches in the Fortune ladder of most powerful women in business. Nooyi, unarguably the most powerful woman of Indian-origin in business, has ranked fourth in the latest survey in 2002 carried by the American business magazine.
She is today the second highest paid PepsiCo executive after chairman and
CEO Reinemund, who took a paycheque of $5.5 million in the previous fiscal
year. Nooyi's took home $2.3 million, which also puts her among the highest
paid women executives in America. This is a big achievement for the 46-year-old mother of two daughters.
Ranked ahead of Nooyi are: CEO of Hewlett-Packard Carly
Fiorina, Kraft Foods co-CEO Betsy Holden and eBay president and CEO Meg Whitman.
