September 4, 2002 January 9th declared Pravasi Bhartiya Divas for India
This government of India has declared the 9th of January as the Pravasi Bhartiya Divas. On this day every year, the country will acknowledge and celebrate the achievements of the Indian Diaspora worldwide. January 9th 2003 will be the first Pravasi Bhartiya Divas with events in recognition of the day scheduled around the country. In New Delhi, the Ministry of External Affairs & FICCI are organising a two day event which will be attended by the prominent NRI's /PIO's from around the globe. - nriol.com report more snippets...
