August 16, 2002 Independence Day celebrated in US
Independence Day was celebrated at the Indian embassy in Washington D.C with the traditional unfurling of the tri-colour and rendition of patriotic songs. The Indian Ambassador to the US, Lalit Mansingh hoisted the flag and read out the President Dr. Abdul Kalam’s Independence Day message urging Indians to develop a second vision to make India a developed country.
