Andrew Lloyd Webber’s gamble of introducing Bollywood mystique to London’s West End audiences seems to be paying off. His
latest show ‘Bombay Dreams’ about a poor Mumbai boy becoming a film star combines Bollywood colour with traditional West End
musical glitz.
The show appears to have overcome initial fears that London’s audiences might be put off by the unconventional fare. It was
revealed today that Bombay Dreams is grossing around £500,000 a week, and will be extended by six months.
Bombay Dreams has attracted strong interest from Broadway and had won critical reviews, however the verdict from the audience
is just out. The show produced by Andrew Lloyd Webber is composed by A R Rahman and stars Raza Jaffrey and Priya Kalidas.
