India bans long distance calls from Kashmir
India has banned national and international calls from STD/ISD booths, the BBC reports. The booths will no longer have facilities to make long distance calls.
The ban aims to hamper communications between terrorists operating in Kashmir and elsewhere.
An Indian telecomms official was quoted as saying that the ban would not affect long distance calls made from individuals homes or offices.
