Lal and Kishor Dadlaney, of Video Sound, who made their mark in the US by reviving ailing cinema halls and introducing Indian films on DVD, marked another milestone in their campaign to promote Hindi movies in America with the completion of "Kehtaa Hai Dil Baar Baar," the first Bollywood film shot entirely in the US.
"Our crew landed in New York on September 9, and we started filming right away," Kishor Dadlaney said. "In 60 days, we were done, which is all the more remarkable because of the September 11 attacks."
Bollywood stars Jimmy Shergill, whose films include "Mohabbatein," "Maachis," and "Yeh Zindagi Ka Safar," and Kim Sharma, who debuted in "Mohabbatein," were present at the conference, as was New York actor and filmmaker Trilok Malik.
"Kehtaa Hai Dil..." director Rahul Dholakia is also from New York and holds a masters in communication from the New York Institute of Technology. He has made award-winning documentaries like "Teenage Parents" and "New York Taxi Drivers."
