Vajpayee's dinner reception stirs controversy

A dinner reception in New York city this weekend for Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee has triggered a controversy among NRI organisations.

Even though the event is being organised by more than two dozen organisations, those not part of this group feel that the event is being "hijacked" by the BJP and that the dinner is being filled with their sympathizers.

Among the organisations involved in sponsoring the event are American association of Physicians of Indian Origin, the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh, Vishwa Hindu Parishad of America, Sikh Sangat, Sindhi Circle, Satya Narayan Temple and Global Organisation of People of Indian Origin.
