India offers anti-anthrax drug as a gift to the US
|
|
India has offered $1 million worth of an anti-anthrax drug to the United
States, according to a Reuters report. The report was quoting the Foreign
Minister Jaswant Singh who while speaking to reporters on Friday said "The
prime minister has decided to offer $1 million worth of the drug
Ciprofloxacin as a gift".
India is the world's fourth largest maker of drugs and at least two drug
firms have offered to supply cheap anti-anthrax drugs to the United States
this week. There are fears that the United States is facing a shortage of
the drug Ciprofloxacin due to increased demand after the numerous reports of
Anthrax exposure in the country.
