Sucheta Jain, co-founder and Chief Operating Officer of Intelligent
Information Systems (IIS) in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina,
recently received the 2001 Women in Business Award from The Business
Journal, according to Indya.com. At IIS, Jain is responsible for profitability, delivery of all
projects, building and strengthening of the organisation. The nearly
200-employee firm boasts about $10 million in annual revenues. In its early
years, IIS had just 20 employees. Now, it has plans to grow to a
1,000-employee firm with 10 locations.
Sucheta Jain and her husband, Shail Jain, founded IIS in 1992. The firm
offers software and consulting services to business clients for updating
antiquated computer systems or solving complex information system problems.
Among its major partners are IBM and Oracle Corporation. The Jains
previously worked at Eastman Kodak Company and Data General before taking
off on their own. Sucheta Jain has a MS in chemistry from the Indian
Institute of Technology in New Delhi and a MS in computer science from
Villanova University in Pennsylvania.
Each year, The Business Journal honours 25 women who have shown leadership
in business and the community over the past year.
