US based NRI is among the Business Women of 2001

Sucheta Jain, co-founder and Chief Operating Officer of Intelligent Information Systems (IIS) in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, recently received the 2001 Women in Business Award from The Business Journal, according to Indya.com. At IIS, Jain is responsible for profitability, delivery of all projects, building and strengthening of the organisation. The nearly 200-employee firm boasts about $10 million in annual revenues. In its early years, IIS had just 20 employees. Now, it has plans to grow to a 1,000-employee firm with 10 locations.

Sucheta Jain and her husband, Shail Jain, founded IIS in 1992. The firm offers software and consulting services to business clients for updating antiquated computer systems or solving complex information system problems. Among its major partners are IBM and Oracle Corporation. The Jains previously worked at Eastman Kodak Company and Data General before taking off on their own. Sucheta Jain has a MS in chemistry from the Indian Institute of Technology in New Delhi and a MS in computer science from Villanova University in Pennsylvania.

Each year, The Business Journal honours 25 women who have shown leadership in business and the community over the past year.
