Dubai NRIs to re-open quake-hit schools

NRIs from Dubai will soon go to Gujarat to help re-open the schools hit by the earthquake on January 26, according to the Indo-Asian News Service.

The team of NRIs will be led by Bharatbhai Shah, a businessman and founder of the Gujarati Samaj in Dubai. Mr Shah says his team is supported by all the Indian organisations in Dubai, and will tour the areas of Kutch and Saurashtra. If the officials there can prove that the schools existed before the quake, Mr Shah’s group will help. He was quoted as saying, “"We will give money to all these schools.”

Mr Shah added that money from Dubai Indians has already helped build 400 makeshift houses in the quake affected areas.
