Sachin Tendulkar has agreed to captain an Asia side in a match against the Rest of the World in London, according to the Surrey County Cricket Club (SCCC).
The proceeds from the match, to be played on September 18, will go towards the redevelopment of the Oval cricket ground.
Tendulkar was personally invited to lead the Asia side by former UK Prime Minister John Major, who is now President of the SCCC.
Other Asian stars who have agreed to play are Rahul Dravid, Harbhajan Singh, VVS Laxman, Sourav Ganguly, Anil Kumble, Javagal Srinath (all India), Wasim Akram,
Aamir Sohail and Moin Khan (all Pakistan).
The players for the Rest of the World XI include, Adam Gilchrist, Jimmy Adams, Graham Thorpe, Courtney Walsh, Reon King, and Andy Caddick. England’s
Alec Stewart will captain the side.
