Search for missing QE2 Indian chef called off

The search for an Indian chef of the luxury cruise ship QE2 has been called off, according to the UK’s Sky News.

The alarm was raised after the 27-year-old chef did not report for duty at 8am as expected, and was presumed to have fallen overboard. A search was launched by the UK’s coastguard, who covered an area of 200 miles off the coast of Ireland in a bid to find the missing chef. But after a day of fruitless searching, the rescue mission was called off.

A coastguard spokesperson was quoted as saying, ""The search was finished at around 5pm today. Nothing has been found."

The chef, who has not been named, was reportedly a non-smoker and a "very quiet" individual.
