Christina Rocca, the US Assistant Secretary of State, is on a visit to India according to the BBC. Her trip to the sub-continent includes visits to Pakistan and Nepal.
Ms Rocca will be the first senior official of the Bush government to go to Pakistan.
Before she left Washington, Mr Rocca said the US felt the Agra summit was a success simply because it took place.
However, she said she would be talking to Pakistan about political reform.
