The Philippine authorities this week have arrested three Indians allegedly running a kidnapping syndicate according to AFP reports.
The gang would apparently prey on their compatriots living in the Philippines.
According to Philippine Immigration officials the suspects are Kulwant Singh, Harmil Singh and Tirath Singh.
They were overstaying aliens, and were arrested in the provinces of Tarlac and Pampanga, north of Manila.
The three, who are relatives, were reported to be behind the abductions of several Indian nationals since 1998.
They are reported to have freed their victims only after their families paid ransoms. The ransoms have been up to 1.8 million pesos (33,962 dollars), according to the authorities.
However one victim, identified as Asha Kumar, is still missing and is believed to have been raped and killed by the suspects even after her family paid ransom money.
