July 18, 2001 Blackwill sworn in as India’s US ambassador
Robert Blackwill has been sworn as the US’s next ambassador to India, at a ceremony in Washington. Mr Blackwill was administered the oath of office by Ms Condoleezza Rice, the American National Security Advisor. Mr Blackwill was quoted as saying that President George Bush gave him the final instructions – "his strategic objective is to transform this [India-US] relationship."
