The BBC is conducting an online debate on the forthcoming India-Pakistan summit, on the topic "What can the Agra summit achieve?"
The BBC site says, "General Pervez Musharraf will be the first Pakistani head of government in 14 years to go to India for a summit meeting.
Ever since the partition of the sub-continent, the two countries have been arch rivals, and their animosity has escalated into a dangerous arms race.
Both countries have nuclear weapons.
One of the most contentious issues between the two is the region of Kashmir, which is disputed by both countries.
At the three-day summit in the Taj Mahal city of Agra on 14 July President Musharraf and Indian Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee are expected to
discuss bilateral relations, the control of Kashmir and their nuclear rivalry. But can the two governments break free from decades of mutual suspicion and mistrust?
Can there be a compromise on Kashmir?"
