July 3, 2001 59 Indians arrested in US for illegal entry
US immigration authorities recently arrested 59 Indians for entering the country illegally, according to media reports. Over 400 others including Pakistanis, Bangladeshis and Sri Lankans were also arrested. The Immigration and Naturalisation Service (INS) was quoted as saying that many of the illegal immigrants are now lying in jails of states including California, New Mexico and Texas. The INS had recently launched a series of special operations aimed at halting the smuggling of human beings into the country. - nriol.com report more snippets...
