The New Delhi High Court has rejected the three NRI Hinduja brothers’ request to leave India, according to media reports.
Justice SK Agarwal said he was “not inclined to allow” the petitions because the brothers may not return to India if they felt the case was not progressing in their favour. Two of the brothers are based in London (UK) while one of them is based in Geneva (Switzerland).
The Hindujas had arrived in India a few months ago in response to a summons issued by the trial court, on charges relating to the Bofors arms case. They were granted bail on January 19, but the court asked them to not leave India without its permission. Subsequently, the brothers asked the court for permission to leave the country saying their businesses abroad were suffering due to their prolonged stay in India.
