India and Australia have agreed to set up a state of the art software technology park in Bangalore according to PTI. This was decided in Melbourne yesterday at a meeting between Union Information Technology Minister Pramod Mahajan and John Burmby, the Australian Minister of State and Regional Development. Mr. Mahajan is leading a delegation to Australia which includes representatives of 20 IT companies.
Both the countries have agreed to build a common network and a joint IT education programme between like-minded educational institutions. The initiative will not only promote IT skills in the education sector but fine-tune HRD skills with emerging technologies.
The Indian delegation is currently on a visit to New Zealand and Australia where it hopes to create new business opportunities and investment avenues in the Indian IT sector. Exploring new markets for Indian IT has acquired greater urgency in the wake of the current US economic slow down.
