Three NRIs have died from gas poisoning in a sewer pit in Sharjah, according to the Khaleej Times.
In a tragic incident, four men had been hired to go down a pit that was emitting a strong smell to check for blockages. The first man went in, and shouted for help before collapsing after being exposed to carbon monoxide and other poisonous gases. The second worker followed and suffered the same fate. The third went after the first two, but he too died. The fourth man then called for help but two of the men were already dead when the emergency services arrived, and the third died on the way to hospital.
The tragedy happened in Sharjah’s Industrial Area no. 2.
