In its first formal high-level bilateral contact with the new Bush administration, India's External Affairs and Defence Minister Jaswant Singh will visit Washington this week. On his way to the US, the minister will also visit Copenhagen and Stockholm.
In Copenhagen he will meet his Danish counterpart Mogens Lykketoft and also call on Prime Minister Poul Nyrup Rasmessen. In Stockholm Mr. Singh will lead the Indian delegation at the India-European Union (EU) troika ministerial meeting. The Swedish Foreign Minister Anna Lindh will represent the EU Presidency.
In the United States Mr. Singh is scheduled to meet three of the most influential people in the Bush foreign policy team, namely the Secretary of State Colin Powell, Defence Secretary Donald Rumsfeld and National Security Advisor Condoleeza Rice.
