Indian-Americans will be happy to know that yesterday, the U.S.Congress passed a concurrent resolution praising the courage of the Indian people and pledging support to their efforts in rebuilding their cities and their lives.
The resolution expressed support for:
a) continuing and substantially increasing the amount of disaster assistance being provided by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID)
and other relief agencies
b) providing future economic assistance in order to help rebuild Gujarat.
It also urged President Bush to back economic assistance efforts by International
Financial institutions.
