An Indian government survey found that half of all Indians pay bribes to get
government services, according to the BBC. The survey director hinted that
the actual proportion could be even higher, as people had grown so used to
corruption that they don't even talk about it.
The survey was conducted in five major cities, with over 2,000 people taking
part. Those most likely to pay bribes were business people and those
self-employed, to get services such as telephone lines, electricity and
driving licences.
Corruption in India - the tragedy is that it really isn't news any more.
