For the first time in the history of the United States, a serving president has issued an official White House statement conveying Diwali greetings to the Indian American community and the people of India.
President Bill Clinton Wednesday sent out warm greetings to Indian Americans across the country as you observe the festival of Diwali.
By issuing a Diwali message, Clinton fulfilled part of a promise he made to the Indian American community.
