External Affairs Minister Jaswant Singh’s visit to Saudi Arabia has been postponed at that country’s behest because of the Middle East crisis, according to media reports.
Mr Singh was due to visit Saudi Arabia on October 17 for three days, but the country has asked that the trip be rescheduled, because Riyadh is currently preoccupied with trying to defuse the tension in the Middle East.
An Indian foreign office spokesman was quoted as saying, "''The Saudi authorities have expressed their deep regrets about the inconvenience that this may have caused and have expressed their keen desire to reschedule the visit in the very near future keeping in view the developments in the region and mutual convenience of the two foreign ministers."
