At least 60 people have been killed in landslides caused by heavy rain in Mumbai during the past 24 hours. The landslide occurred in slum districts in the eastern part of the city.Emergency teams were working into the night despite heavy rain with hopes of finding survivors. It is estimated that there are about 50 people trapped under the mud. Along with the heavy downpour, very narrow roads leading to the disaster area also hampered rescue operations. This made it difficult to use heavy equipment.
