Our latest opinion poll which asks the question "As an NRI, do you feel "less Indian"?" shows that the majority of NRIs do feel Indian. However, a significant minority of respondents - about 13% - did feel less Indian!
Of course, it could be argued that retaining your national identity could be a sure sign of parochialism. On the other hand, it could be argued that you can hang on to your national identity and embrace new cultures, and that the two are not necessarily antagonistic.
Whatever the view, the poll has provided us with some indication of how we all feel.
