Virgin atlantic made its debut flying in Indian airspace yesterday. This was
made possible by a sharing agreement with Air India through which it will fly
twice a week from London to Delhi.
The airlines colourful chairman, Richard Branson, was one of the inaugaral
passengars, and true to his reputation made a grand entrance. He was dressed
in a traditional Punjabi costume and arrived waving the Indian triclour.
Soon after his arrival in Delhi, Richard Branson expressed his interest in
flying to Mumbai and to Calcutta. He also hinted at cutting fares to compete
against rival British Airways.
Hopefully NRI's will benefit from this increased competition.
